Edward Stephenson (abt. 1714-1766): Documented descendants of at least two of Edward’s five sons have shown close yDNA matches in Haplogroup R1b.  Note – By will filed in Amherst Co. VA we know this Edward had sons Robert (oldest), John, Edward, William, James and daughters Margaret, Jane, Elizabeth, Mary.

    Edward Stephenson (abt. 1744-1792): Edward Jr. appears to be the third of Edward’s sons. A great, great grandson of Edward Jr.’s son James was tested. He wishes to remain anonymous, but his line has been verified and stories about Edward Jr., who was killed in a well-known attack by Native Americans, were passed down through the family.  This attack was chronicled in the Draper Manuscripts as told by William Champ and as happening Aug 1792 on Paint Lick Creek in what is now Madison or Garrard Counties, KY.   He matches ysearch.org samples #Y887R, #6YWX6, #ZST6H, #ZQAPY and #CT8BW on 24 of 25 markers with some more results pending.  Related Files:  Edward 1, Edward 2.

        Edward Stephenson (1774-1868): Edward appears to be the oldest of Robert’s sons. Descendants of at least three of Edward’s documented six sons have been analyzed, matching on at least 32 of 32 commonly tested markers.  This Edward’s homestead was in Bedford Co. TN.

            Robert Stephenson (Abt. 1800-Abt. 1831): Robert appears to be Edward’s eldest son. Descendants of at least two of his grandsons were tested, matching on 32 of 32 commonly tested markers.
